I very much enjoyed The Door so was looking forward to reading this. While the style is excellent I was disappointed and grew impatient with the old woman and her lack of courage. Did not finish the book.

A very enjoyable read. Gave me insights into a part of the world and a culture that I know very little of. Well-written and humourous without being too flip or cute. I liked it enough to want to watch his show.

Despite being totally predictable with unreal happy endings for all characters, I really enjoyed this book from its first to its last page. Could be just a relief from these discouraging times, but it was well written and gave me a lift.

Excellent read from start to finish, even with the Turkish names. Turkish setting made it even more interesting and characters were well drawn and the plot well paced. Would definitely recommend.

Had to check the inside flap to make sure I was not reading a young adult's book. Thin plot and characters. Too simplistic. Did not finish and would not recommend.

I enjoy all things Southern so this was fun to read. The characters were well drawn and the beginning of the plot compelling. I found that the solution to the mystery was too evident, however, and the book fizzled out in the end. Disappointing, but I would recommend it anyway for a light read.I enjoy all things Southern so this was fun to read. The characters were well drawn and the beginning of the plot compelling. A good story with great tension well maintained in an interesting setting. Characters are believable and I read it right through to the end....always a good sign! I would recommend for a light story well told.

Excellent series of stories about men at different stages of their lives. The author captures daily life beautifully while fitting in larger life themes and making them relevant to both men and women of all ages. A good book and one I would recommend.Excellent series of stories about men at different stages of their lives. Stream of consciousness can only take a reader so far, no matter how well crafted the pieces are. Did not finish the book.

Disappointing and I just just flipped through the book trying to find the story as well as the poetic view of the life of the main character. No climax, no lessons learned. Would not recommend.
