The Jellicle Cats gather in their junkyard, preparing for the Jellicle Ball, for this is the night when patriarch Old Deuteronomy will choose a cat to be reborn into a new life on the Heavyside Layer. There are stories, songs, and dances from Victoria the White Cat, Munkustrap, Rum Tum Tugger, Grizabella, Jemima, Gus the Theatre Cat, Jellylorum, Skimbleshanks, Macavity, Demeter and Bombalurina, Demeter, Alonzo, Mr. Mistoffelees, and others. The songs explain how Cats are named, whom they fight, how they work and play, entertain, and how they love and why.

I went to see "Cats" on Broadway. The curtain goes up and some screwball in a cat suit walks out and holds up one paw and says, "Meow meow meow, I'm the gray flea-bitten cat," or words to that effect. And I said, "This is supposed to be entertainment?" And I say that to you, now. An Observer rating of one 🐱.

If you are hard of hearing, this title is sadly not for you. It has no closed captioning, and the way the camera jumps around and cuts faces together it is pretty much impossible to read lips. I may try to watch it again at some point, but I will probably have to check out "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" either with it or ahead of time. Honestly, I probably won't do that... It seemed okay but not as amazing as I was expecting, and I usually love love love musicals. :/

If you like musical, after watching the Phantom of the Opera & the Les Miserables, this should be a good choice. Music, singing & dancing are all finely produced.

This the first time I've seen this musical performance. I had heard a lot about it and really wanted to see it. It was absolutely amazing. The dance routines were nothing short of perfect. Amazing music (of course since anything with Andrew Loyd Webber's name on it is exceptional).
May I also acknowledge how incredibly 'sexy' the whole performance was.
Generally I love musicals with or without a plot. (and I'm not even 'gay') lol
I just appreciate good music.

Despite seeing the live production over a half dozen times, and watching it by DVD even more, I never get tired of it. Memories alone causes a tear everytime. The flip side is Rum Tug Tugger makes me laugh outloud everytime...MEOW!!!!

Agree with comment by Orual, below. Disappointing - I wish there was more of a plot. The set and dancing were great, but for me, it needed more.
