Add a CommentI lived in Anchorage at the time this movie was set in. It is scary to think that there was such a evil predator out there. I don't think Nicolas Cage was the right person to cast as the detective, he isn't a believable Alaskan. It was a OK watch, not the best, not the worst.
I used to live in Alaska, Alaska is one big small town, and everyone knows or knows of everybody. After seeing this, I asked my best friend from Alaska and yep, one of her friend's parents were neighbors with this Butcher Baker. As a former Alaskan, I can attest to the accuracy of this film and the Anchorage vibe. A scary film and once again, it points to the vulnerability of woman who are forced into the skin trade, including in Alaska where there are a lot of men looking for women. A creepy movie and worth watching.
Normally not a Cage fan, but this was a good movie. Action, intrigue, and twisting plot.
It is a very good but chilling and dark movie.
Good movie. How do people become so depraved.
The three main stars Vanessa Hudgens, John Cusack, & Nicolas Cage, performances were very good. But what a sick world, it is with so many mainly male predators preying on the weak which are mostly women and children.
This is the true story of a serial rapist and killer who kidnapped young girls, raped and tortured them for days, sometimes weeks, then flew them to the remote Alaskan wilderness where he hunted them like elk. He got away with it for more than a decade until one of them finally escaped. The problem was no one believed her until she found one lone cop to listen. Frightening because it was all too real. This guy had his friends over when he had a girl in the same room. Ted Bundy's neighbors said he was a swell guy too. Not for the faint of heart.
Good movie. John Cusack does a very good job and I always like Nicolas Cage. Gave it 4 stars.
Quite boring!
Wow was not able to finish this movie due to falling asleep! The second attempt only gets me to the middle of the story where John cusack was looking for Cindy at the stripe joint. Oh boy and Nick Cage must be on prozac; he was rather too subdue and slow and lack of emotion. Other then that, I loved all his other movies.
