Narcissism is an epidemic and the most dangerous is the covert, b/c they compel you to trust them and let down your guard, making it easier for them to take advantage of you. Because of my intimate experiences with several covert narcissists in my family of origin, I have read many books on the topic. "In Sheep's Clothing:..." was actually one of the first (if not The first) book written on the covert aggressor, yet it was the last one that I read. I have to say that, out of all the books, this one was the best. In any case, it is a definite must-read on the topic. It is so clear. It enumerates all of the red flags, and describes the behaviors in better detail than I had seen previously. It had so much to teach me that was invaluable in dealing with these people, even after all I had already gained from my experiences and other books on the subject. I almost didn't buy it since it was a thin, quick-read, and I figured other authors had covered the same material over & over again since it had been written. But again I'm glad I didn't make the mistake of skipping it as it contains so much in helping you spot the character and to deal with them. Dr. Simon focuses his clinical treatment on both survivors of narcissism and the manipulative/disordered character themselves. I love his writing. Apparently he also has a weekly radio program discussing the topic which I have not checked out yet.
