The sophomore season of the hit tech-centered drama hits the ground running. It's March 1985. More than a year has passed since Joe MacMillan set fire to a truck full of Cardiff Giant PCs, the last in a long string of destructive acts that burned the people that made the machine possible. The Giant is about to go the way of the dinosaur, like any number of personal computers to enter the market in the wake of IBM. The lesson is harsh but clear.

I don't think that AMC's 80s computer drama "Halt and Catch Fire" has really found its audience. Maybe it's the odd title or maybe it's that they pitched it a little too hard as "Mad Men" set in the dawn of the personal computer. The lead character is part Don Draper and part Steve Jobs, but there the similarities end. The second season is as good, if not better, as the first, with the focus shifting to the two female leads, both of whom are excellent. Lee Pace is the enigmatic/arrogant visionary and it's a far cry from his charming baker on "Pushing Daisies." For those of us who are older, the 80s setting will generate some nostalgia.

Joe likes the dishes done in a particular way, so I just don't do them anymore.
