A New York Times Bestselling Author -- It is called zero point energy, and it really exists-- contained in all matter, and thus all but unlimited. Now one scientist thinks he has found a way to tap into it. The problem is, his machines also cause earthquakes, even fissures in tectonic plates. One is buried underground; the other submerged in a vast ocean trench. If Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala can't find and destroy them, the world will enter a new era of unchecked volcanism. And that can't be good.

Rated 8/10. I was fairly happy to read this, although I thought the main villain was a bit too much like out of a James Bond movie. But, overall, pretty good.

Zero Hour --- by --- Clive Cussler. So how many books has Cussler written? A quadrillion. And how many have been sold and read? A mega gigga quadrillion. How come? ‘Cause we eat ‘em up like addicts. ‘Cause we can’t kick the Cussler habit. Great literature they’re not. They don’t rank up there with Romeo and Juliet. Nor are the chick-lit or insightful philosophy. But the Cussler addicts know that already. With him you get advanture and action; things get blown up and they are sent to the bottom of the sea; the bad guys are brought to justice or a nasty end. If they were films they would star Sylvester Stallone or John Wayne (posthumously). They are sanitized: no sex, just lots of violence (of the nicest kind --- whatever that means) The read is quick and non-taxing: just the time it gets from Toronto to Montreal --- faster if you don’t move your lips. Great escapist fodder.

"When a scientist discovers a possible way to tap an unlimited energy source using machines that cause massive earthquakes, Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala and their NUMA teammates race against time to locate the scientist's machines underground and in a vast ocean trench to prevent catastrophic disasters. Co-written by the best-selling author of Poseidon's Arrow." July 2013 Thrillers and Suspense newsletter

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
