Film theory class in a short book with pictures.

As a fan of cinema, film theory and general film trivia, I thought this was great. There are great tidbits of knowledge, great illustrations (placing the author on famous sets and even in famous scenes). It showcases very basic film theory, and Filmish very easy to comprehend if you're coming to cinema history totally ignorant. Ross clearly has done his research - there are many citations of different works on film theory and film history. This is a great blend of education and fun. Overall, it is a very satisfying experience for a film nerd.

While I'm a film fan, this book didn't amuse, inform, or entertain me. The narrative is often pompous, and the story bland. Endnotes are in too small type.
