Okay, this may be my favourite TV show, and I don't understand how I can like it so much when it's a) never, ever funny b) has no "cool" anything -- the characters are like your parents and even the scenery is just like Pickering, only filmed very beautifully and c) there's gross and nasty stuff. How can I like something that makes me think "yuck"?

Season two is about denial; there were times I wanted to strangle (sorry) our hero because I was so disappointed that he was being so stupid, and he's not (is he? am I wrong about him, maybe I'm the one in denial? um... no, he's smarter than that).

Just like real life, I think the little girl and the other detective are the only sane ones in the whole town of messed-up hopeless ugly idiots. So there's the attraction, I suppose: every other show I watch is fantasy for the purpose of entertainment, this one is a piece of art that is just like life. I don't feel like I'm being manipulated, or amused, or along for the ride, or preached at, or targeted as a demographic according to the Hollywood formula. I feel like they really don't care if I'm watching or not.

I did not like the ending.
