No-No Boy tells the story of Ichiro Yamada, a fictional version of the real-life "no-no boys." Yamada answers "no" twice in a compulsory government questionnaire as to whether he would serve in the armed forces and swear loyalty to the United States. Unwilling to pledge himself to the country that interned him and his family, Ichiro earns two years in prison and the hostility of his family and community when he returns home to Seattle. The Anti-racism collection has been created by Lethbridge Public Library and the City of Lethbridge Diversity and Inclusion Working Group to provide resources about anti-racism education, history, and perspective. Anti-racism is defined by the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre as the active process of identifying and eliminating racism by changing systems, organizational structures, policies, practices and attitudes, so that power is redistributed and shared equitably.
