Classics in the Modern World brings together a collection of distinguished international contributors to discuss the features and implications of a 'democratic turn' in modern perceptions of ancient Greece and Rome. It examines how Greek and Roman material has been involved with issues of democracy, both in political culture and in the greater diffusion of classics in recent times outside the elite classes. By looking at individual case studies fromtheatre, film, fiction, TV, radio, museums, and popular media, and through area studies that consider trends over time in particular societies, the volume explores the relationship between Greek and Roman ways of thinking and modern definitions of democratic practices and approaches, enabling a widerre-evaluation of the role of ancient Greece and Rome in the modern world.

Interesting twists throughout the story and does a good job of tying in new characters. Many of the circumstances are a little hard to believe and the detective who keeps showing up at unusual times and situations is more humorous than anything.

Koontz is a master of suspense! The book is full of adventure, interesting characters and a great story line.

Again Koontz is mesmerizing - you just want and have to know what will happen next and how.

The book starts off really intense and keeps going that way for the entire thing but I foudn the ending a litte too "easy" and the prologue was just useless. However, that is not to say I didn't like it. It was a really good book but the ending could have used a little tweaking.

Koontz starts out with a fast paced situation, but I kept thinking there was going to be an ending that would just freak me out. However the end turned out to be quite predictable.
Plenty of twists & turns, except for the end.

Good read, will make an interesting movie for sure... very intense at the end, with a quick come down... didn`t quite understand the whole New Mexico thing... I`ve read better Koontz.. also, what's up with the wind thing???

This is probably the best Dean Koontz story I've read. It's a real page turner.
