A "New York Times" bestseller and "a poignantly written novel that powerfully celebrates the power of love and friendship" ("Chicago Tribune")
Over the course of twelve novels, Jane Green has established herself as one of the preeminent names in women's fiction. In "Promises to Keep" she weaves a profoundly moving tale that will enthrall both new and old fans.
Callie Perry lights up every room she enters, and adores her settled family life in tony Bedford, New York. Steffi is Callie's younger sister. At thirty, she's still a free spirit bouncing between jobs and boyfriends in Manhattan. Their long-divorced parents, Walter and Honor, share little besides their grown daughters. But when Callie receives a difficult diagnosis, the family will come together for one unforgettable and ultimately life-changing year.

Such a beautiful story. Although terribly sad at times, they came together to support each other through a terrible family crisis.

Loved it from beginning to the end.

I couldn't put it down. Relationships are what life is about.

This book and Love is a Verb are the same book.

I loved reading Love is a Verb and sit down to read this book...Promises to Keep and thought O'no this is the same book I just finished.

Love Jane Green's books and am on a quest to read all of them

A touching novel filled with wonderful characters. Shows the importance of family and friends coming together when facing hard times. Have a tissue box handy!

I enjoyed this book a lot, but it was extremely heartfelt and depressing. I try not to think of sickness and death but this book makes you cherish what you have and life itself.

This book is a genuine tear jerker.
My only complaint - I found some of the characters were a bit one dimensional - does the literary world really need one more quirky, sarcastic Jewish best friend character?
Still, the relationships had resonance, and the storyline was heartbreaking. I couldn't put it down!
