***READ THE BOOK***! This DVD comes pretty darn close to the book though, only a few minor differences! It made me tear up multiple times, just like the book. I love these characters so much and this story will stick with me for life.

I've watched this series so many times and never get tired of it. Great acting by Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones and a terrific script!! Such beautiful cinematography on the cattle drive to Montana. Perfect casting all around. It's almost impossible to watch in installments, it gets you hooked!

This really is one of the finest TV series ever made- with some of the greatest acting you'll ever see from Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall.

Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones give stellar performances as crotchety old friends that decide to steal a thousand head of cattle and 2 pigs and drive them north to Montana.
Its a wild ride all the way.

I thought I could watch this mini-series in installments and I was wrong! I couldn't turn it off - stayed up until 2am to watch the entire show. You don't have to be a fan of westerns to love this movie. The story is so well written and the performances are incredible. Robert Duvall really stands out, but every character was incredibly well cast. Don't miss this one. Truly the best western I've ever seen.

Lonesome Dove has was it takes to make a great western. Characters who really can ride horses and act like they can beat any man in town at a gun fight. This is no ordinary western, its great because it isn't shallow on its story line. You will root for Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones the entire series. Who ever heard of stealing 3000 cattle from cattle rustlers. We have an epic western here. One that I have seen many times and yet love it even more with additional viewings.

It brings back the characters from the book and re-tells the classic western saga.

Decent western mini series and with beautiful scenery. Makes you wish you were around back then given all the troubles that we have in the World today...

One of the best screen adaptations of a novel I've ever seen. Extremely faithful to the feel of Larry McMurtry's epic, the cast bring the characters to life.
