These reviews are from amazon.com ( a great way to check reviews by those who have bought and read the book! 90% of reviews were 4 and 5 Star reviews. Below are four 5 Star reviews and two 2 Star review for balance. 5 Star reviews: 1) After consulting with my doctor there really is no way to get your body in perfect ph balance. He did suggest that the lifestyle and eating plan that an alkaline diet plan outlines is certainly worth doing as it is a healthy approach. I downloaded the kindle version of this book and enjoy being able to take It with me wherever I go to make quick references. The dummies books are typically hand guides for the rest of us normal people out there. Things are easily described menus are practical, chapters are logical. The dummies books are successful because they make it easy and practical. 2) This book is well written and easy to understand. Bought it as I need more information on diet and eating while on chemo therapy. Would recommend it to all who are interested in balanced eating. 3) It's a good book so far. Got this book for my mom because a lady Dr. suggested she read this because my mom has a thyroid issue and my mom could use this book as an alternative to radiation to her thyroid. Very interesting read. 4) The Dummies books have that edge of humor that I enjoy, especially when learning more about a subject. So that mixed with the author's knowledge helped me begin a more acid/alkaline diet. I wanted to be more alkaline to see if this would help with my digestive issues that I had been experiencing for awhile. So far, so good, and I really like this lifestyle. My energy levels are definitely up, especially since I have weaned myself off of coffee, which is highly acidic. Will be trying a new-to-me product called Teeccino to help with my "need" for a coffee fix. 5) This book is very thorough. I just like it so much. Very helpful if you want to feel good physically. 2 Star reviews below: A) I didn't like a lot about this book; I just wanted an understanding of how to get my body more alkaline with the right foods and what not to eat. The book does go into this but also gives a lot of other advice that should be common sense such as being sure to exercise, don't smoke, etc. A lot of extraneous narrative in the book; I found only about a third of it to be useful and the writing is very large which makes it seem like there are a lot of pages but there isn't much info. I also wanted a book that had listings of most foods that I could quickly refer to. The book has some basic lists but most of it is advice on this or that. Also the author is very into tofu and soy foods which I don't like or want to eat. I only found one recipe that I cared to make in the whole book. B) Too wordy but it is easy to read. Wanted more lists. Already knew about the importance of balancing acid foods in your diet. Book good for learning about it.
