Cary Grant's disturbingly leathery tan is the only thing to mar this otherwise sumptuous piece of eye candy from Alfred Hitchcock. It's not Hitch's greatest by a longshot, but Grace Kelly and Grant are fun to watch, and the sweeping helicopter shots of the French Riviera must have been mind-blowing to audiences in 1955. This movie really takes its time; it's an interesting difference between now and then, as is the lifestyle of Grant's character, whose profession--cat burglar--seems to be something one used to hear about quite a bit, but rarely does now. Perhaps more sophisticated alarm systems and super rich who don't wear jewels around in public have really hurt that profession. This one is worth a watch for arm chair travelers, or fans of Hitchcock, Kelly, or Grant.
