Ever wanted to be a princess? With lots of money, lots of beautiful clothes, magical power, a glittering crown and a handsome Prince to rescue you? Think again. Princess Thora has nothing, not even her name. She has no power over anyone; in fact, she's whipped whenever her conquered people rebel. She may wear beautiful clothes, yet there's no glittering crown; she's forced to wear a crown made of ashes whenever she appears at court. And she may know a handsome Prince, but she knows nobody is going to rescue her. She will have to rescue herself. True, the chief villain is so evil (and I mean EEEEEVILL) that he makes Joffrey Baratheon look like St. Francis of Assisi. Talk about your Red Weddings! However, the usual teen triangle gets a new spin as Thora and her best friend Cress end up competing for the same Heir Apparent. "Ash Princess" is a fast paced, fun read (if you're not Princess Thora) that will be enjoyed by readers of the Red Queen books, the Selection series, and fans of elemental magic.
