This is one of the tightest stories in the series. That is either bad or good depending on your preferences. I'm good with it for a change of pace. A lot of the material about exercising, meditating, fixing meals, personal side relationships and digging for details that filled out earlier books in the series are gone -- even the cat! We're left with a very fast moving tale well crafted and exciting. If you love the missing themes then you will be disappointed. Some have negatively commented on the portrayal of two main women characters as unrealistic stereotypes (i.e. not in line with today's PC). I think everyone in the story is a stereotype, for good or bad, and it's the author's prerogative how to portray them, not the readers. Really, think about Pike, Cole, bad guys -- they are not "real" and do not act that way. Just give it a rest and enjoy an exciting story.
