witness history of Hong Kong from the eye of a writer's childhood watching the life of ordinary chinese, his british father who worked for the hong kong governmemt, his mother who befriended a variety of people. I particularly enjoyed the personal witness account of one of Hong Kong's historical fires that destoryed the houses of refugee settlements the author 's experience about a rare hong kong earth quake and the life and death of a monkey , when it escaped from its master , a street performer using the monkey as part of his work this book is a must read for all students in Hong kong this book is from one special student of hongkong to all students of hongkong for people who want to understand Hongkong the author said this book is for his children to let them understand his life it is a good book for all who want to understand hong kong I regard it as one of the top memoirs about Hongkong
