Jun 23, 2017TEENREVIEWCREW rated this title 4 out of 5 stars
This movie is actually one of my favourite 80’s films and stars Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Michael Schoeffling, and John Cusack. Samantha is a teenage girl who is turning sixteen, but with her sister’s wedding coming up and her family being busy, they all forget that it is her birthday. To make matters worse, she’s interested in a senior but the only guy interested in her is a nerdy guy named Ted. I found this movie actually pretty relatable even though it was made so long ago, and felt that the acting and storyline was pretty well done. I would rate this classic movie 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to those who like Molly Ringwald’s earlier movies. - @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This classic 80's movie chronicles the life of teenage girl Samantha Baker, played by the 80's icon Molly Ringwald. In this movie, it is Samantha's sixteenth birthday, however absolutely no one in her family remembers it. To make things worse, she also has a huge crush on this upperclassman who doesn't even know that she exists. This movie beautifully and hilariously captures what it feels like to be a teenager and how sometimes it really does feel like it is the end of the world. People of all ages will love this film for its incredible casting, scripting, and execution which makes it feel more like a documentary than a film.  - @Moviecritquer01 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Sixteen Candles is yet another fantastic, classic 80’s teen movie from John Hughes, starring the 80’s icon Molly Ringwald. It is about a girl who is turning 16 but none of her family remembers her birthday, and to make matters worse, she has a huge crush on a guy who barely even notices her. John Hughes perfectly captures teenagers lives which is so different from the over-the-top, extravagant, and unrealistic teen high-school movies today. He truly knows how to create relatable characters who go through real situations and feelings that teenagers go through. It is nice to see teenage characters who do not look or act like 25 year old models. I would recommend this film for sure and rate it 4/5 stars. - @reginaphalange of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
